Lesson 2 : Why should you market your business through email marketing Lesson 1 : Can I just use GMAIL to send emails instead of an email platform?

Beginners often wonder if they can just use GMAIL to send emails instead of an email platform?

It’s a good question.

You CAN create an email list in Gmail to send group emails to organise family reunions, weddings and things like that.

However, Gmail DOES NOT offer:

  1. Email signups forms to collect emails on your website or via a landing page.
  2. The ability to send an email to more than 500 recipients in a single email (not big enough for even a small blog).
  3. Marketing automation e.g. welcome emails or drip campaigns (automated series of emails).
  4. Email analytics to send better emails e.g. open and click-through rates (CTRs), campaigns comparison side-by-side etc.

For these reasons and more, people use ESP’s (Email service providers) like Benchmark, Mailchimp etc. to send emails.

I hope this clarifies things!
